WME Independent Launches as Film Sales and Financing Division within AgencyTheWrap
WME on Monday launched a new agency division that will handle domestic and international film sales and film finance advisory services to be named WME Independent.
Deborah McIntosh and Alex Walton, both recently at Endeavor Content, will lead the new division as national and international sales teams move from Endeavor Content.
WME Independent is bringing back the film sales and fundraising departments within the agency, and it will be made up strictly of the film sales and film finance teams. The group hopes to differentiate itself by offering national and international film sales services.
The division will also include Agents Will Maxfield, Gerren Crochet, Zach Glueck, Katie Irwin, Nelson Mok, Abraham Bengio and Laurel Charnetsky. Commercial and legal affairs will also join the group.
McIntosh was previously SVP, Film Advisory at Endeavor Content, where she was part of the original group of executives to form Endeavor Content in 2017. McIntosh and Walton together raised funding for numerous films while they were at Endeavor Content, including: ” Cherry “of the Russo Brothers”, “Pig” with Nicolas Cage, Dev Patel’s debut film “Monkey Man” and Ferdinando Cito Filomarino’s action thriller “Beckett” with John David Washington. They were also responsible for the directorial debuts of several actors-turned-filmmakers, including Patel, Rebecca Hall (“Passing”), Maggie Gyllenhaal (“The Lost Daughter), Billy Porter (” What if? “) And Paul Dano ( “Wildlife”) .
Walton was Executive Vice President, Film Advisory and Co-Head of the Film Group at Endeavor Content. Previously, Walton had partnered with Ken Kao to form the international Bloom sales agency in 2014. As president, Alex oversaw the sales, production and distribution of Bloom’s slate, including “The Front Runner” , âBook Club,â âBad Education,â âSuburbicon,â âThe Nice Guys,â and âLove Wedding Repeat.â Prior to Bloom, Alex was President of International Sales and Distribution at Exclusive Media and prior to that, he was Head of international sales division at Paramount Vantage.
